South Shore students are wired and ready

iPads and other high-tech wonders await S. Shore students. Donnie Saltmarsh, along with 590 other students at Norwell Middle School, will head to class on Wednesday with something new in his backpack: a school-issued iPad. ā€œI’m looking forward to not lugging around a bunch of books,ā€ said the sixth-grader, whose iPad came fully loaded with educational apps, organizing tools and a pair of textbooks.

The iPad program at Norwell Middle School is among a wide range of technology initiatives being rolled out this fall by South Shore districts working to ready schools for new testing requirements, using the latest technology to reach students living in an increasingly digital world.
